I just completed a 15 week series of Chen style Tai Chi with Dr. Wei-Chen Ni and I want to invite all of you to take a Chinese martial arts/exercise class for your own health. My recent class was challenging and fun. Classes are held in Richardson off of Spring Valley near I-75. I am especially posting this for our male patients who would rather grab a pair of boxing gloves than a yoga mat (but as a woman and recent participant, I can easily recommend these elegant disciplines for both genders).
About Ni’s Tai Chi and Kung Fu:
Dr. Ni has been practicing Tai Chi for more than 40 years. He is a master of several different styles including Chen and Yang style Tai Chi, Ba Gua, Dao Yin (Chinese Yoga), Hsing-Yi and several weapons forms. A unique feature of Dr. Ni’s classes is his emphasis on several of the above styles as being internal martial arts which are designed to promote health, resolve illness and increase longevity. Dr. Ni is also a doctor of oriental medicine and provides excellent explanations regarding both the martial application of moves and the way the forms relate to the internal circulation and cultivation of qi. His advanced classes give special attention to the theory and medical application of the different styles. Dr. Ni’s medical practice specializes in treating physical injury and pain.
(I will be taking Chen Tai Chi again and the Ba Gua class this time. ) For those of you not familiar with Ba Gua, please read the below description:
Ba-Gua is an internal Chinese martial arts style. It integrates physiology,
medical theory and martial arts, and uses the principles of the eight trigrams in
I-Ching, the five elemental energies (metal, wood, water, fire and soil), internal
medicine and Dao-Yin (Chinese Yoga) as its theoretical base. It is particularly
suitable for the balanced development of the internal organs of a human body. Its
intent is to supplement ‘prenatal’ energy with ‘postnatal’ energy to rid illness,
enhance health and attain longevity.

Class offerings change every quarter based on popular demand. I can say that it has been a real privilege as well as a fun experience to work with someone who is a true master of his art form.
